Interlude

Story of the Image“Interlude” bridges time and space, melding Boston’s MBTA subway system (right) and Chicago’s Metra rail line on the left. A lone passenger waits at the intersection of the two cities, holding a Magritte-like umbrella. Light trails along the track represent the energy left behind by the last crowd that boarded a train. The fog and drizzle contribute to the sense of as-yet unrealized possibilities that pique the imagination and stimulate creativity. Next stop–Boston, Chicago, or somewhere else?

The “view portal” that frames the image is a photograph of an industrial window in a renovated factory in the Chelsea area of NYC. The window provides a gateway into fanciful realms where you can explore worlds familiar and unknown, the world as is and the world reimagined.

Printed on specially-coated aluminum, ready to hang. No frame required.
